541-388-011

Bend's chic urban night spot. Over 25 Specialty Martinis paired with a menu
featuring comfort foods. Check out the upstairs lounge with comfy leather sofas,
mirrored candles, and oversized chairs. Try the "Astrodisiac" martini for two,
paired with the super fresh fish tacos, gouda cheese fondue,
coconut prawns, or Tahini chicken spears.

Bend Brewing Company
www.bendbrewingco.com
1019 NW Brooks St. Bend
541-383-1599

GREAT brews and a menu that will satisfy everyone in your group.
The Thai Crab Cakes are unbelievably good, and the burgers and pastas
will stand up against any fine dining restaurant in town. Whatever the
fresh fish is, try it as a sandwich with the home fries.. a nice combo
with great flavors. Enjoy delicious hand-crafted ales, great food
and friendly service right next to Mirror Pond.

Bendistillery Martini Bar
www.bendistillery.com/bnds_martini.html
850 NW Brooks St. Bend
541-388-6868

Bend's little secret, with the best martinis in town! All of the vodka and gin is made
from scratch here in Bend, and has won national awards as to it's flavor. I'm not
a gin gal, but friends that are rave about it's true juniper berry flavor and slight
numbing quality. The vodkas are spectacular -- try the ever-popular lemon drop,
or the Crater Lake Espresso martini (my fave). Most are served out of a giant
glass jar with a large soup spoon, adding to the atmosphere or
"hometown" flavor of this spot.

Blue Fish Bistro
718 Franklin Ave. Bend
541-330-0663

By far the best restaurant in Bend... and within walking distance of the cottage.
I am amazed at the absolutely PERFECT flavors and presentation of each dish
we've ever had here. I recommend the Ahi Firecrackers or the Seared Scallops
for an appetizer, and for an entree try the steak or the seared halibut in a lemon
thyme buerre blanc -- truly magnificent! I cannot say enough about this
restaurant. Even though the food will tempt you to eat every last morsel, be
sure to save room for the best homemade tiramisu this side of Italy.
Reservations are recommended.

Cork
150 NW Oregon St. Bend
541-382-6881

One of the best restaurants in the entire Northwest (as listed in Pacific Rim
Magazine and also MY opinion, which counts even more!) is found here in
lil' Bend, Oregon. Try the ahi poke appetizer (served with the RARELY FOUND
genuine wasabi -- only grown in Japan and Lincoln City, Oregon), or the
pressed duck salad with hoisen dressing. WOW - what a treat!
Chef Greg Unruh is an expert in the kitchen, and any one of the items
on his menu will surprise and impress you. Wine Spectator has bestowed many
awards to Cork's  wine list, so you'll be sure to have a glass (or bottle) of
something very special. One of the finest restaurants I have
ever experienced. Reservations are recommended.

D & D Bar and Grill
www.homestead.com/ddbargrill
927 NW Bond St. Bend
541-382-4592

Late night? Big portions? Deep fried foods your favorite, and do you like to
smoke? Bend's oldest and most notorious bar and "diner"... large portions
and big drinks are here -- the only restaurant open at 6 a.m. serving steaks,
video poker and whiskey shots. You get the idea...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deschutes Brewery
www.deschutesbrewery.com
1044 NW Bond St. Bend
541-382-9242

If you haven't heard of the Deschutes Brewery, what are you doing in Bend?
The best micro-brews available in the entire U.S of A, and a great menu
to match. The crowd these days is half locals, half tourists, and can get
loud at times. If you love brew pubs, this is the place for you!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
McMenamin's
www.mcmenamins.com
700 NW Bond St. Bend
541-382-5174

The latest hot spot in Bend with plenty to look at -- from the luxurious
Turkish Bath (at $5 per soak) to the large screen viewing room for movies
or sporting events -- there's tons of brews and cocktails to keep everyone
in your party happy. Food has improved tremendously since opening in 2004,
but plan on waiting at least 45 minutes for a table if you choose to sit in the
restaurant during prime time (which happens to be the only non-smoking area on
the entire property). Otherwise there are 3 separate bars to check out with lots
more eye-candy. If anything, walk through just to check out the amazing decor,
then keep on walkin'....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Merenda
www.merendarestaurant.com
900 NW Wall Street Bend
541-330-2304

Bend's most "See and Be Seen" restaurant, opened by internationally renowned
chef Jody Denton.  Merenda is known for it's ever-changing menu with
an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients. The wine bar is fantastic, with
numerous award-winning glasses to choose from, as well as an impressive
brandy, bourbon, tequila, and dessert cordials menu. This restaurant
and bar are packed nightly, so reservations are recommended.

Parrilla Grill
635 NW 14th Street
541-617-9600

This little restaurant is home of some BIG flavors, loosely based on a Baja-style
menu. The Bombay Burrito has fresh spinach and tangy chutney, and the Wrap of
Khan is spicy and unique. From fajitas to smoked salmon wraps, this inexpensive
restaurant is funky and comfortable, and definitely a locals hangout. Enjoy the
"Uncle Wedgie" margaritas (homemade and some of the best I've had) out on the
sunny deck, or during the winter, wear your gear straight from the mountain and
inhale hot food while swapping stories. Don't miss this one!

Sidelines Sports Bar
1020 NW Wall St. Bend
541-385-8898

Sports your thing? How about 10, no 20, no 30+ televisions with every sports
event televised? This is a large pub-style bar with many pool tables, video poker
machines, and a full bar with a chilled Jaegermeister machine on the premises.
The menu is limited, but everything is very good and served in large portions.
They have the BEST artichoke jalapeno dip I've ever had, and it's almost a
dinner-sized portion with all of the grilled bread served with it!
Ask the bartender for a "Friend of a Friend" to try
a unique drink created by regulars...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taj Palace
917 NW Wall St. Bend
541-330-0774

Truly authentic Indian food with some of the friendliest service one could ask for.
Lunch is a steal, with a full hot buffet for under $6. Vegetarian entrees abound,
as well as traditional lamb and chicken dishes. There isn't a lounge,
however beer and wine are available.

The Lodge by Cascade Lakes Brewery
www.cascadelakes.com
1441 S.W. Chandler Ave Bend
541-388-4998

Located on Bend's west side, it's the first place off of Mt. Bachelor! Full lunch
and dinner menus, pool tables, big screen T.V.'s and the full lineup of
hand crafted Cascade Lakes beer. I like the Cascade Blonde Ale or seasonal
Grizzly Mountain Stout, and the generous portions of dirty martinis. The menu is
decent pub fare, with the top accolades going to the very authentic salmon
Caesar salad, the fish tacos only available (WHY?!?) on Tuesday evenings,
and the variety of homemade soups in the winter.
